MIP's main tasks

The Ministry of Investment Planning (MIP) was established for the first time under the government of Mr. Plamen Oresharski. Thus Mr. Ivan Danov, an architect and professor at the University for Architecture, Construction and Geodesy, was appointed Minister in May 2013.

The main goal of the MIP is to help the Bulgarian construction companies to overcome certain difficulties accumulated during the last 20 years, after the change of the political system.

The staff of MIP is currently working on a thorough analysis of the situation in the construction sector and an overview will be presented along with certain propositions and ideas.

MIP's main tasks are:  

  • Creation of a cadastral map of the country. Currently just around 18% of the Bulgarian territory is covered by a cadastral map; 
  • Rendering help to the town municipalities with the work and processing of EU projects; 
  • Creation of appropriate legislation of contemporary laws to regulate the relations between the investors, construction companies and designers;  
  • Further synchronization of the national legislation with the one of the EU. Promoting the "Smart Building Technologies" standards;
  • Creation and realization of the government's urban and housing policy in the fields of modernization of the national housing fund; establishment of social housing fund for the needs of low income households and people in need; 
  • Establishment of mobile and assembling housing fund in case of natural disasters, major industrial breakdowns and refugees; 
  • Establishment of housing funds for students, disabled and elderly people;  
  • Realization of projects in the field of development of national technical infrastructure;   
  • Helping in solving any issues in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP); 
  • Attraction of foreign investments in the field of construction industries for the realization of non-EU-funded projects; 
  • Overall help for decrease of the unemployment in the construction sector; 
  • Export of intellectual solutions and expertise in the field of construction in EU and non-EU countries.
